He especially enjoyed watching his grandson Jake play baseball and was just beginning to get into watching his great-grandson Colton begin his baseball experience.

His favorite recreation was traveling the open road with Ruby and three generations of family members as well as their lifelong friends, Bill and Nita Leighty. Among his favorite destinations were Colorado, South Dakota and Wyoming.
Bill’s other interests included playing competitive softball in his adult youth, square dancing , listening to country music, fishing with his best friend Charlie and bowling as well as being a vocal spectator when watching the KC Royals and Chiefs along with MU Football. He was committed to supporting MU sports, especially football.

Share a memory...how can I ever choose a memory, I have 37 years of memories with my Grandpa. So, so very many memories. I was blessed to have a grandpa who did the job of two grandpas when he was the only one in my life. Grandpa always called me "Indian" as long as I can remember. He'd call grandma the "old Indian woman" he'd always tease that we were up to no good together. I remember grandpa and Charlie Green in heavy baseball discussions with a cup of coffee in hand, I figure right about now is as good as any for Grandpa and Charlie to be discussing the future of the Royals and finally catching up. I remember vacations across the country as a big family...there really wasn't anything better!! Riding in the back if the RV singing to Willie. Years later I know why South Dakota and Wyoming are truly some of my favorite places and forever will be. Fishing, watching birds, watching Rocky the squirrel, MU sports, KC sports, Westerns, Country Music...he loved it all. Ha, a funny I just remember is how grandpa used to name the flies that snuck in the house and he'd shout "Don't kill George, he's my pet"...a strategy I used on my own child years later so as not to make him scared of the small things in life. I am grateful my son, Colton had 10 wonderful years with Grandpa and he got to share a love of sports with grandpa, especially when it was baseball season. I loved watching my Grandpa, watch my son play ball and hear him offer tips and help learning the game. I could go on forever...the gist is Grandpa was a one of a kind, the one and only like him and I wouldn't have changed him for the world. I am so glad I had 37 years with him. Grandma, grandpa has been with you more than 70 years and he will always be right by your side looking out for you, I just know it! Love you both so very much! Grandpa, I know you'll be out there with us on the ball field in a few weeks, but know you are so missed every single day. I love you! - Indian

My condolences to all in the Goins family. As a teenager, I would come and visit Joe (Billy) and Jim, with my friends Don and Danny Call, and we would chat with the whole family. Many thanks for always welcoming me in the home, and making me a part of the family.
