Paul Davis, 63, passed away on December 15, 2019. A visitation will be held from 1-2pm, with memorial service at 2pm, both Saturday, December 21, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Missouri Department of Conservation in his honor.
Paul was born on November 10, 1956, in Kansas City, MO, the oldest son of Willard Paul Davis and Ella Maxine Downing Davis. As a teenager, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He graduated from Van Horn High School in the class of 1974. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from UMKC School of Business. While in college, he was member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. He also worked for FedEx, and he never forgot the time he encountered a touring celebrity – Elvis Presley - while on duty. After graduating, he worked in civil service as a revenue officer for the federal government. He retired after 25 years of service.
Paul loved his family. He married Adrienne Taylor on February 2, 1995, and they shared nearly 25 years of marriage, creating wonderful memories. He also enjoyed being outdoors – he took every opportunity to go hunting, especially with his father and his dogs, as well as fishing with his family and friends. He spent many summers on Lake Pomme de Terre, and recently purchased a cabin in the mountains of Florence, Colorado. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and was passionate about raising hunting dogs – although most of them ended up as “cuddling dogs.” He also loved sports – he and his family were front-row season-ticket holders to the Kansas City Chiefs. He made every effort to play frisbee golf with his sons, but really enjoyed being the “proud dad” by taking photos and cheering them on.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Adrienne Davis; and children, Katie Hook (husband Brandon), Brett Davis (wife, Alaina), Kyle Davis, and Kendall Davis; and two granddaughters, Leah and Ella Davis, whom he loved with all his heart .
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Ella Maxine Davis; and his younger brother, William Dale “Billy” Davis.
