George Adkins

George W. Adkins, 82, of Independence, MO, passed away, Monday, August 10, 2009 at Research Medical Center. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will follow the service at the chapel. George was born February 10, 1927 in Boonville, MO to George T. and Kathryn (Jenry) Adkins. He had worked as a truck driver for the local teamsters union for a number of years before he retired. He was married to Lola (Dawson) on June 22, 1945; she survives him. Other survivors include; a son, Owen Adkins of Avondale, MO; a daughter, Dana Adkins-Amos of Independence, MO; 3 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Alan Adkins in 2003 and 2 brothers, Wilbur L. Adkins and Edward E. Adkins. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
