Sarah Norma Ahmann, 88, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at her home.
A celebration of Sarah’s life will be at 10:00 AM Friday, July 15, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Southern Care Hospice.
Sarah was born February 10, 1923 in Choudrant, LA the daughter of Walter R. and Mary E. (Babb) Barrett. She graduated from Missouri Baptist Hospital as a registered nurse. Sarah was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran during WWII serving as a nurse. She retired from Baptist Medical Center in 1986 as the Orthopedics Department Head. Sarah enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, traveling and reading.
She was preceded in death by four sisters; two brothers; and her parents. Survivors include her son, William Michael Ahmann; daughter, Peggy Holmes and husband Ron; grandchildren, Ryan Holmes and wife Anya, Allison and Tanner Holmes; great grandchildren, Thomas and Hayden Holmes; and sister Eula B. Coil
