Betty Jean Allen, 81 of Blue Springs, MO passed away, Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to the American Heart Association. Betty was born January 28, 1929 in Fulton, KY to Freeman and Anna Loriane (Brown) Swift. She spent most of her life in the Kansas City area attending Mt. Washington Elementary and graduating from Northeast High School in 1945. She lived in the Mt. Washington area until 1969 when she moved to Blue Springs. She worked as a clerk for the Crysler United Super for over 16 years before she retired. She enjoyed painting and collecting Barbie Dolls, Precious Moments figurines and plates. She was a member of the Mt. Washington Baptist Church. She was married to William B. Allen on August 2, 1946, he survives of the home. Other survivors include; a son, Skip Allen and his wife Linda of Independence, MO; a daughter, Sue Alumbaugh and her husband Don of Blue Springs, MO; a brother, Bill Swift of Prescott, AZ; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, William A. Allen in 1996.
