June 24, 1928 — July 27, 2011

David L. Allen, 83, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in the chapel. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Washington United Methodist Church, 584 S. Arlington Ave., Independence, MO 64053 or Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Parkway, Suite 300, Kansas City, MO 64114. David was born June 24, 1928 in Independence, MO to Lee M. and Gladys Mae (Hayes) Allen. He graduated from Northeast High School and received his Associates Degree from Junior College of Kansas City. He married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn R. Shoush. He was a member of Mt. Washington United Methodist Church. David was retired from Central Industrial Sheet Metal. He was active in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, in scouting, and was an honorary warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He enjoyed trains and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn R. Allen. He is survived by children Cynthia and Stephen Landau, Robert and Denise Allen, Tim and Debbie Allen, Nancy Allen; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at Seasons Care Center.
