Allen Simon Evans, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in Overland Park, Kansas.
Born in Lead Hill, Arkansas, Allen spent most of his life in Independence, Missouri, where he built a life centered on family, faith, and hard work. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Ruth Evans. Married for 68 years, Allen and Donna shared a deep bond marked by love, devotion, and a lifetime of shared memories.
Allen was the proud owner and operator of Evans Plumbing and Heating for over 40 years. Through his business, he became known for his skill, reliability, and integrity. He took great pride in his work and in serving his community honestly and faithfully.
Outside of work, Allen found joy in fishing and spending time outdoors. A man of strong faith, he was active in his church and loved singing in the choir, using his voice as an expression of his devotion.
Allen was a devoted and hands-on father who cherished time with his daughters. He faithfully took them to church, built forts with them, coached their softball teams, and created lasting memories through family vacations. He delighted in helping plan birthday parties and being present for both the big moments and the everyday joys of their lives. His love, guidance, and steady presence shaped each of them in lasting ways.
One of Allen's greatest joys was time spent with his grandchildren. They will forever remember rides on his four-wheeler, walks through the woods searching for rocks and sticks, and the excitement of Easter mornings when Grandpa hid hundreds of eggs just for them to find. Through these simple but meaningful moments, Allen created memories that will be cherished for generations. More importantly, he set a Godly example for his grandchildren—teaching them kindness, humility, and faith through both his words and the way he lived his life each day.
Allen was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his five daughters: Patty Evans; Lynda Baker and her husband Bruce; Debbie Evans; Deanna Evans; and Susan Evans. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, each of whom was deeply loved and treasured.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Brookdale College Square Memory Care or Phoenix Home Care and Hospice, in gratitude for their compassionate care.
Allen's life was a reflection of faithful service, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family, His legacy is well captured in the words of Scripture:
"Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord. " Matthew 25:23
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
