Alta Ilene Wagner

December 29, 1928 — April 16, 2024

Independence

Alta Ilene Wagner, a beloved soul known for her sweet and loving nature, peacefully departed from this world on April 16, 2024, in Independence, Missouri. She was born on December 29, 1928, in the same city where she spent her fulfilling life.

Alta's journey on this earth was marked by dedication and hard work. She devoted 30 years of her life to the Western Electric manufacturing department before retiring under AT&T. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her strong work ethic and sense of responsibility.

Education played a significant role in Alta's life, and she proudly graduated from St. Therese Sacred Heart, carrying the values instilled in her throughout her days.

Beyond her professional achievements, Alta found joy and solace in various hobbies and interests. Sewing was not just a pastime for her; it was a labor of love evident in the Christmas quilts she meticulously crafted for each family member. Gardening brought her closer to nature, while watching game shows became a cherished tradition shared with her beloved husband Robert. Her curiosity about the world found expression through staying informed about current events and reading voraciously. The melodious tunes of big band music filled her heart with joy, and dancing with Robert created treasured memories for their family.

However, Alta's proudest accomplishments were rooted in family. Family meant everything to her, and every action she took was driven by love for her dear ones. Her husband Robert was not just a partner but a companion with whom she shared countless precious moments. Together they nurtured a beautiful family that now mourns her passing. Alta led by example, showing her family how to love and live, by doing just that.

In the embrace of eternity, Alta joins her husband Robert Wagner, parents Cornelis and Edith Browning, her son Mike Wagner, and her great grandson Alan Wagner who went before her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be forever cherished by her surviving family: daughters Patricia (Milton) Hatt and Peggy (Les) Gorden, son Robert (Pat) Wagner, daughter-in-law Darla Wagner, 9 grandchildren Michael (Cindy) Hatt, Shelley (Dale) Wood, Charlotte (Mike) Isbell, Michele (Kenny) Krause, Rob (Amy) Wagner, Steve (Lindsay) Gorden, Leslie (Rusty) Scheer, Jeff (Sheryl) Gorden, Jennifer Hanning, 20 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, extended family members and dear friends.
