Amelia Olivine (Jacobs) Alexander, lovingly known as Amy, passed away on November 21, 2024 at the age of 83 years in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on October 10, 1941, in Liberty, Missouri, Amy brought warmth and kindness to all who knew her.
Throughout life, Amy's steadfast dedication to her family and her unwavering work ethic shone brightly. She worked as a nurse's aide in home healthcare, caring for others with compassion. Even after her retirement in 2004, her commitment to helping those in need never faltered, illustrating her boundless spirit and love for others. Amy truly hated having idle hands; she filled her days with meaningful endeavors and joyful pursuits.
Amy was a woman of many interests. A fan of old country music, Amy could be found in her younger years going to square dances. Later in life, she started to listed to Reba McEntire, along with the classics. She found happiness in shopping at thrift stores, delighting in the thrill of hunting for the best deals. These little adventures brought her joy, as did her love for gardening and planting flowers. Her green thumb transformed her garden into a vibrant sanctuary.
She leaves behind her beloved family: sons, James Long and Jesse Long; daughter, Peggy Barrios; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. They will forever carry her spirit in their hearts, united by the love she so freely shared.
Amy joins her husband, Robert Alexander; son, Robert Long, Jr.; and parents, Albert and Crystal (Millard) Jacobs. In this next journey, we find comfort knowing she has been reunited with them.
The community is invited to pay their respects at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri. A visitation will be held on November 25, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.
