Fred was born January 23, 1936 in Kansas City, MO to Fred and Agnes (Goddard) Amos. He always loved the idea of flying, so after graduating from Paseo High School, he enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a Survival School Instructor at Stead Air Force base near Reno, NV. Upon returning to Kansas City, he realized his dream by learning to pilot helicopters as an early pioneer of the Kansas City Police Department’s aviation unit. During that time, Fred met and fell in love with Carol Matulis of Queens, NY. They shared a loving 32 year marriage and had two daughters, Karen and Toni. Fred lost Carol to cancer in 1994. He shared the rest of his life in a loving marriage with Linda Arrington. They enjoyed their time together traveling, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Amos was a loving husband, trusted confidante to his daughters, and doting grandfather. Known for his kindness and good humor, he showed unconditional love to those close to him. Fred was the rock for the entire extended family, often serving as counselor, friend, and personal weatherman. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting around the table with a home-cooked meal. Fred was steadfast and true, and his positive influence will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife Linda (Seedorff) Amos; daughters Toni Keirn, Karen Hamilton and husband Brian; step-brother Richard Stoppelman; grandchildren Skyler, Chase and Bretton; and by a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. Fred was preceded in death by his first wife Carol Amos; brother David Amos; uncle Donel Goddard; aunt Lucy Goddard; parents Fred and Agnes Amos; and step-father Arthur Stoppelman.
