Dr. Gerald W. Anderson, 85, formerly of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Veteran’s Home in Cameron, MO. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2008 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 4000 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64055 with an informal gathering at 9:00 a.m. Visitation will be 2-4:00 p.m Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel with a Pythian Service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church. Burial with full military honors at Ft. Leavenworth Cemetery. Gerald was born September 24, 1922 in Centralia, KS to Edward and Letha (Robb) Anderson. He was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Episcopal church. Dr. Anderson proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He practiced in the field of podiatry in Independence and St. Joseph, MO. Dr. Anderson was a charter member of the Civil War Roundtable of Western Missouri, a member of the Friends of Historic Lone Jack, American Legion post #189, Knights of Pythias Sicilian Lodge #39, Raytown VFW #4242, and the Dramatic Order of Knights of Khorassan, ABA Temple #211. He is survived by cousins Kenneth and Hilda Thornton; daughter-in-law Arlene Anderson; granddaughters Rachel and Jacklyn Anderson; special caretakers Randall Todd and Ron Doyon. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Florence Anderson in ’93 and his son Greg Anderson in ’98.
