John L. Andrews, 87, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away March 31, 2012. Services will be 10 am, Friday, April 6 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment with Full Military Honors at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Boy Scout Troop #255, c/o Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, 4725 N.E. Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064.
John was born Sept. 30, 1924 in Weston, MO. He worked for many years as an engineer for Burlington Northern Railroad and retired in 1986. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of WW II and served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling to “everywhere in the world” as he liked to tell people. He was a very out-going person with many friends.
John was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth; second wife Eulalia; son and daughter-in-law, John and Trish Andrews; and step-son David Austin. He is survived by daughter Robin Andrews, Independence, MO; step-daughters Patty Wike and husband Dennis, Lee’s Summit, MO; Vikki Trantham and husband David, Warsaw, MO; daughter-in-law Barb Austin, Chicago, IL; sisters Velma Burden and Virginia Golden; grandchildren Austin, Colin, Megan, Jordan, Taylor, Evan, Landon and Austin.
