Angela JoAnn Dent, born on August 18, 1974, in Independence, Missouri, passed away on June 19, 2024, in the same city where she was born. Angela's journey was marked by remarkable resilience and a deep sense of purpose that left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Despite facing various disabilities throughout her life, Angela's courageous spirit propelled her to become a beacon of positive change within her community. Her unwavering and trailblazing efforts revolutionized the perception and care of individuals with disabilities. Angela's legacy will endure as a testament to her unwavering strength. Angela dedicated herself to serving others, volunteering extensively in nursing homes, the Independence Historical Society, and the Peace Pavilion. Her contributions exemplified her commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around her. Education was a lifelong pursuit for Angela, who engaged in numerous programs with organizations such as the Sunshine Center and ICAN. She collaborated with dedicated caregivers who supported her growth and development over the years. Those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with Angela will remember her remarkable ability to connect with others on a profound level. Despite being unable to speak verbally, she possessed a deep understanding of those in her presence. Her intuitive nature allowed her to sense people's personalities and intentions with remarkable acuity. Angela's love was unconditional and everlasting; once she formed a bond with someone, her loyalty knew no bounds. In her leisure time, Angela found joy in activities like swimming and visiting Oceans of Fun, reveling in the freedom and tranquility that water provided. Music also held a special place in Angela's heart; she cherished listening to melodies through headphones during her younger years.
Angela's passing was preceded by her father; Bill Dent, her paternal grandparents; Max and Ocie Dent, her maternal grandparents; Oswald and Agnes Siefker, and her unlces; Densil Brown and Bill Higgins. Her legacy lives on through her mother; Phyllis Dent, her sister; Danielle Dent-Breen (Anthony), her nieces and nephews; Eoin Breen and Reagan Breen, her aunts and uncles; Marvin Siefker (Connie), Bob Dent (Beverly), Mary Brown, Clara Higgins, and David Dent (Barbara), many cousins and extended family, and numerous friends.
Services to honor and celebrate Angela's life will be held at the Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri, with visitation scheduled from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on June 24, 2024. The Funeral Service will commence at 2:00 PM, immediately followed by a graveside service at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to attend a dinner celebration in her honor, hosted by ICAN, her long-time day program.
