Susan LaRue Ankrom, Independence, MO was born on October 24th, 1938, in Los Angeles, California. She was the daughter of Cecil Johnson and Velma Johnson Kent. After fulfilling her “three score and ten,” Susan went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 29th, 2008. She graduated from Banning High School, Banning, California. After studying Elementary Education at the University of Southern California-Riverside, she continued her thirst for knowledge by earning an Associate’s degree in Biblical Counseling from Tri-City Theological Seminary in Independence, Missouri. Susan taught elementary education for fifteen years in California and Missouri. Her later years were spent in counseling and spiritual mentoring alongside her husband of fifty-two years, Larry Wynn Ankrom. Susan was a woman of boundless love and steadfast faith in God her Savior. She ministered beside her husband in four churches before serving her last twenty years as a faithful mentor and Sunday school teacher at Tri City Ministries. Best known as “Mama Sue” by her grandchildren, she breathed confidence into each one, who each insisted they were “her favorite.” She is survived by her husband Larry; brother, Gary Johnson; four daughters, Caryn (George) Huntsman, Teresa (Jeffrey) Fulbright, Carol (David) Loftis and Jennifer (Kevin) Nicholson and ten grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1st, at 10:00 a.m. at Tri-City Ministries, Independence, MO.
