Anthony
Perez
Jun 4, 1950 — Sep 12, 2026
Independence, Missouri
Anthony “Tony” Perez, born June 4, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Jesse J. Perez, Sr. and Tana Perez, entered into his eternal rest on September 12, 2026.
Tony attended Williams Chrisman High School in Independence, Mo and graduated in 1968.
Following graduation, Tony began his career and went on to retire from Kansas City Southern Railroad after an impressive 42 years of service—a milestone he held with honor.
Tony had many interests and hobbies and was a true outdoorsman. His love of fishing, hunting, and the outdoors brought many people into his life and led to friendships that lasted a lifetime. He also enjoyed teaching classes through the Missouri Department of Conservation and sharing his knowledge and passion for the outdoors with others.
Tony was a man who was unmistakably himself. He was a free spirit who marched to the beat of his own drum and lived life in his own unique way. He had a style all his own, and those who knew him could recognize him from a distance—often accompanied by his signature walking stick.
Music was another important part of Tony’s life. He loved music and had a particular appreciation for the songs, sounds, and styles that spoke to him. Whether enjoying his favorite music or simply being himself, Tony had a way of leaving an impression on everyone around him.
Tony could often be spotted at the local QuikTrip or Dollar Tree—two places he frequented so regularly that he was known by name. These simple, everyday stops became part of his routine and are now memories that those who knew him will treasure.
Tony was a man of faith. He enjoyed reading and studying Scripture, spending time in prayer, and praying for his family. He expressed his faith in the salvation found through his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Tony was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jesse “JJ” Perez, Sr. and Tana Perez, and his brother, Jesse J. “Richard” Perez, Jr.
Tony leaves behind his six children, all of whom he was incredibly proud: Brian Perez of Independence, MO; Kim (Chris) Perez Frederick of Independence, MO; Thad (Jess) Perez of Overland Park, KS; Amy Perez of Independence, MO; Adam (Allison) Perez of Independence, MO; and Adriana Perez of Chicago, IL.
He is also survived by his dear sister, Marcy Wishon; brother, Robert Perez; eight grandchildren, Marissa, Maysen, Kiana, Anisah, Tanner, Elisia, Noah, and Samuel; three great-grandchildren, Oakley, River, and Payton; many nephews, and cousins; and a host of cherished friends.
Tony lived life in his own way. He will be remembered for his individuality, his stories, his friendships, and the unmistakable presence he brought wherever he went. Though he has left this earth, the memories he created and the people he touched will carry his spirit forward.
Rest easy, Tony. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
