Hollis Eugene Archer, 81, Independence, MO passed away Friday, June 29, 2012.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Hollis was born October 22, 1930 in St. Charles, IA the son of Nevin and Merceline (Spoor) Archer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Hollis retired from GM Leeds Plant in 1988. He was a member of Pebble Creek Assembly of God. Hollis was a member of the VFW Post# 1738 and faithfully volunteered with the Military Honors Detail Team. He was a Royal Ranger and volunteered with the MO. Dept. of Conservation instructing hunter safety.
Hollis was preceded in death by his grandson; Jonathan Archer; sisters, Weltha Prewitt and Mary Turpin; and his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Theresa Archer of 57 years; sons, Michael Archer and wife Mary, Phillip Archer and wife Christie; grandchildren, Sara Olinde, Samuel, Stephen and Ryan Archer; brother, Dan Archer and many nieces, nephews and family.
