Clinton Alford Armstrong, 80 of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Rosewood Health Center. Visitation will be Friday February 2, 2007 from 5 to 7:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. service at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Private graveside services will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. Donations may be made to Outreach International. Clinton was born July 9, 1926 in Fort Scott, KS to Raymond T. and Mary Margaret (Fluber) Armstrong. He had graduated public schools and received a BA in English from UMKC as well as doing graduate work at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Army. He worked as an engineering technician for Butler Manufacturing from 1968 until he retired in 1991. He enjoyed trains and had worked on steam engines for the Northern Pacific Railroad in Pasco, WA. As a youth he had raised ducks. He was an active member of the Community of Christ first in the Englewood Congregation and in the College Park Congregation, where he served on the building committee, stewardship committee, the junior church and was an elder in the church. He was married to Wathena Carol (White) on October 17, 1964, who survives of the home. Other survivors include; a son, Daniel Armstrong and his wife Michelle of Independence, MO; a daughter, Anita McKiddie and her husband Jim of Independence, MO; a sister, Margaret Rinehart of Sierra Vista. AZ; 5 grandchildren, Megan, Jared and Brian McKiddie and Leah and Josiah Armstrong and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Clifton and Wayne Armstrong and a grandson, Zechariah Armstrong.
