Obituary

Aubrey Earl Williamson, Jr., 87, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on January 20, 2026.

Earl was born on September 9,1938 to Aubrey (Sr.) and Mildred Williamson in Independence, MO. He grew up in Grain Valley and lived in the Independence area the rest of his life. He and his wife Joan moved to the Riverstone Resort Community in 2022.

Earl graduated from Northeast High School in 1956 and was an active participant in the Alumni Association. He served in the Army for several years, being discharged in 1967.

Earl and JoAnn Williamson were married in 1958, raised two sons, and enjoyed 41 years of marriage. They lived in Independence, MO where they raised their family in the home Earl built when he was a construction worker at the beginning of his professional career. He later joined J. E. Dunn Construction Co. where he retired as a Superintendent in 1999. Over the years he built many schools, hospitals, etc. in the Kansas City area. He enjoyed family vacations and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks with family and friends. Earl was a forever Kansas City Chief’s fan and was able to celebrate winning Superbowl LIV at the game with his two sons in Miami.

Earl married Joan Williamson in 2000 and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Both are members of Maywood Baptist Church in Independence, MO, where they were very active serving in several areas of ministry, including church leadership. Earl and Joan enjoyed traveling following his retirement and visited every state capital in the US and many other parts of the world.

Family was very important to Earl and he loved all the precious time he spent with them. Earl loved Joan’s family as his own. He was a loving and caring son, husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and first wife JoAnn.

He is survived by his loving wife Joan Williamson; his son Michael Williamson and wife Sara Williamson of Olathe, KS, his granddaughter Nicole Williamson and her child, Earl’s great grandchild Eliza of Merimam, KS, his grandson Jake Williamson of Blaine, MN; his son Barry Williamson and wife Kim Williamson of Marble Falls, TX, his granddaughter Kristen Smedley and husband Blake of Cedar Park, TX, their children, Earl’s great-grandchildren Grant and Paige; his grandson Austin Williamson and wife Sarah, of Georgetown, TX; Joan’s son Jeff Jones and wife Ann of Kansas City, MO; Joan’s daughter Joanie New of Liberty, MO; their granddaughter Katie Jo Wheeler and husband Justin of Kansas City, MO, their children, Earl’s great grandchildren Jay and John; their grandson Robert New of Driggs, ID; their granddaughter Callie White and husband Drew of Platte City, MO, their children, Earl’s great grandchildren, Quinn, Ella and Cara Kay; and a host of other relatives and friends.
