Augustine "Augie" Guerrero, Sr.

Augustine "Augie" Guerrero, Sr., 85, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Augie was born on November 2, 1940, in Rosenberg, Texas, to Rosendo and Francisca Guerrero. One of eight children, he was raised with the values of faith, hard work, and family that would guide him throughout his life.

While proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, Augie was stationed in Kansas City, Missouri, where he met a beautiful young soda jerk named Beverly McBride. Their love story quickly blossomed, and they were married on June 25, 1960. Together they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage and built a life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love. Their union was blessed with three children.

Shortly after their marriage, the couple was stationed in Florida. Following Augie's honorable discharge from the Navy, they moved to Texas before eventually making their way back to Missouri, where they made their home for the remainder of their lives. Though Missouri became home, Augie was a Texan through and through. He was proud of his Texas roots, a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, and was rarely seen without one of his Navy hats, cowboy boots, and belt buckles. He was known as a sharp dresser whose unmistakable style reflected his larger-than-life personality.

Augie dedicated 40 years of service to Trans World Airlines (TWA/American Airlines), where he worked as an Inspector Supervisor. His co-workers knew him as "Chili Bean." His incredible work ethic, positive attitude, and genuine care for others. He was respected by his coworkers, loved by everyone who worked alongside him, and treasured the lifelong friendships he maintained with his beloved "TWA Buddies" long after retirement.

A born-again Christian, Augie's greatest passion was his faith in Jesus Christ. He faithfully read ten chapters of the Bible every day, taught Bible studies, and welcomed friends and neighbors into his home for small group fellowship. He lived his faith with humility, kindness, and conviction, serving as an example to all who knew him.

Augie also had a wonderful sense of humor. Throughout the years, people frequently stopped him to tell him he looked just like President George W. Bush, something that always brought smiles and laughter to those around him.

Above all else, Augie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His family was his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. He instilled in each generation the values of hard work, respect, integrity, and, most importantly, love. His steady guidance, unwavering support, and generous heart created a legacy that will continue through all who were blessed to know him.

He is lovingly survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Beverly Guerrero; his children, Sherry (late Ray) Fanning and Augustine "Augie" (Cheryl) Guerrero, Jr.; his grandchildren, Amy (Josh) Hill, Jonathan (Malarie) Tucker, Samantha (Jeremiah Roach) Guerrero, Danielle (Justin) McGuire, Michael (Alissa) Fanning, and Trenton (Bailee) Guerrero; his great-grandchildren, Valerie and Oliver McGuire, Charlie and Benjamin Hill, Aidan and Alec Fanning, Kaylea, Logan, and Linkin Tucker, and Averie, Haedyn, Evrytt Guerrero, and Nahari Roach; his sisters, Irene (Tony) Flores, Ernestine (Jeff) Chadima, Herminia (Pat) Rudloff, and Francisca (Frank) Garcia; Honorary family members, Ralph (Robin) Tucker, Sarah, Jessika, Andrew, their spouses and their children; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Denna Rene Tucker; his son-in-law, Raymond Fanning, Jr.; his parents, Rosendo and Francisca Guerrero; and brothers, Rosendo "Ross", Frank, Ignacio "Nacho" Guerrero.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. at Harvest Baptist Church of Blue Springs, 425 NW R.D. Mize Road, Blue Springs, Missouri 64014.

Interment with Military Honors will take place on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. Family and friends are invited to attend. Those wishing to travel in procession with the family should meet at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, Missouri 64055, with departure at 11:45 a.m. Guests may also meet the family directly at the cemetery.

Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we rejoice in knowing that Augie has finished his race and is now in the presence of his Savior. His legacy of unwavering faith, steadfast love, devoted service, and commitment to family will live on in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
