Billy Akin Austin, 86, passed away on September 8, 2015, in Kansas City, MO. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held on Sunday, October 4, at 3:00pm, at the South Crysler Community of Christ, 3100 S. Crysler, Independence, MO 64055.

Billy was born on July 16, 1929, in Independence, MO, to Elbert E.C. Austin, Sr. and Essie Bell Akin Austin. He graduated from William Chrisman High School, where he met and married Evelyn Lorraine Lungwitz. He co-owned the National Aluminum and Glass Foundry with his brother, and was President of the Foundrymen’s Association for many years. Billy was very active in the church, serving as a Deacon at the South Chrysler branch. He enjoyed coaching baseball, leading Boy Scouts, and above all, spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lorraine, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
His survivors include 3 daughters, Connie Malone of Springfield, MO, Becky Caruso of Albuquerque, NM and Lorrie Ross of Independence, MO; a son, Billy D. Austin of Independence, MO; 5 grandchildren, Tommy Caruso, Travis Caruso, Rachel Ross, Alyssa Austin and Billy D. Austin, Jr and 4 great-grandchildren, Isa, Sophia, T.J., and Annalise.
