Reta M. Badder, 78 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Villages of Jackson Creek. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Saturday at the chapel. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org . Reta was born January 26, 1933 in Fairmount, MO to Marvin O. and Edith A. (Winslow) Kennon and has been a lifelong area resident. She had worked as a financial coordinator for Dr. Jerald E. Elrod, D.D.S. from 1966 until she retired in 1995. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and especially spending time with family. She was a member of the Community of Christ Summit Grove Congregation. She was married to Robert G. Badder on February 10, 1950; he preceded her in death on April 22, 2007. Survivors include; 2 daughters, Debra Smith and her husband Jim and Glenda Gooch and her husband Karl all of Independence, MO; 2 brothers, Del Kennon of Blue Springs, MO and Denny Kennon of Kansas City, MO; 4 grandchildren, Logan Smith (Heather), Chad Gooch, Garrett Smith (Rachel) and Kara (Gooch) Cavanaugh (Andy) and 2 great grandchildren, Elle Nadine Cavanaugh and Camdyn Elizabeth Smith. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Aileen Vermaas, Virginia Keith and Joy Willoughby.
