Loren R. Bailey, 88, of Independence, MO passed away January 13, 2011 at Hidden Lake Care Center in Raytown, MO. Loren was born November 22, 1922 in Lawrence, KS to Herbert and Anna Bailey. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII, then began his civilian career at Kaw Valley R.R.; retiring as a mechanic for Guys Food & Nut Co. in 1986. Loren was preceded in death by two wives, Ina Bailey in 1980 and Roberta Bailey in 2007. He is survived by two stepsons, Dale Williams and Robert Smith Jr.; one stepdaughter, Carol Markle; granddaughter Sheri Williams; grandsons Bob Williams, Adam Markle, Kyle Markle, Rob Smith, and Alex Smith; one brother, Ed Bailey; two sisters, Lois Harrell and Vera Dunn; and 6 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the chapel with burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe, KS. Contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 3601 S.
