Francis Marion Baker, 88 of Independence, MO passed away Monday, November 1, 2010 at Independence Manor Care Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Farview Restoration Branch, 11404 E. 24th Street, Independence, MO 64052. Burial will be in Mound Grove. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Francis was born December 19, 1921 in Bowie, TX to Holly Carl and Bertie (Philips) Baker and has been an Independence resident since 1954. He worked as a welder for over 38 years, most recently for A-Z manufacturing for the past 17 years before he retired in 1977. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, riding roller coasters and most of all sharing the gospel. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Veronica (Majerus) of the home. Other survivors include; 4 children., Gary Baker and his wife Sherrie of Kansas City, MO, Robert “Bob” Baker and his wife Barbara of Colorado Springs, CO, Sharon Harrison and her husband Bob of Gardner, KS and Sheryl Salter and her husband David of Independence, MO; a twin brother, Holly Carl Baker and his wife Florence of Independence, MO; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Parker and 2 half brothers, Dale and Don Smith.
