Margaret Baker, 89, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Wilshire at Lakewood. A visitation will be from 10-11:00 AM Wednesday, October 8 at Speaks Suburban Chapel with services beginning at 11:00 AM; burial at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Margaret was born February 19, 1919 in Independence, MO to William and Susan Story. Following her attendance of St. Mary’s School, she married Lawrence W. Baker, Sr. on October 5, 1935. Together they raised two children, Marjorie and Lawrence, Jr. Margaret was employed with Emery Byrds where she was a tailor for many years. She was a faithful member of the RLDS Restoration Branch. Margaret enjoyed gardening and canning, cooking, ceramics and was an avid animal lover, raising exotic birds, jersey cows, peacocks, and dogs, to name a few. More than anything, Margaret loved and cherished her grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Lee; son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence W. Jr. and Linda Baker; grandchildren: Lawrence Baker III, Christine Baker, Donnie Chulufas, Kim Chulufas, Larry Scott Chulufas, and Kelly Chulufas; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her parents, husband, and two siblings, William and Louise, preceded her in death.
