Sandra Baldus 71, of Buckner, MO passed away Nov. 11, 2015 at the home of her son with her loving family by her side. Visitation will be 6-7pm, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Speaks Buckner Chapel. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 pm at the chapel. Sandra was born on November 27, 1943 in Independence, MO to Ray James and Katherine (Michael) McCandless. She attended Fort Osage High School and Oakland United Methodist Church. Sandra lived a life of service to others, including making blankets for the patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Veterans Hospital, serving as secretary for VFW Auxiliary, and on the board of Oakland Cemetery. She loved to travel, Hawaii being one of her favorite places having gone 30 times. Sandra’s love for travel began many years ago when she and her husband would load the children into the family truck with camper and travel the country, enjoying 45 states with the kids in tow! She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Survivors include; daughter Donna Thorpe (John); son Donald Baldus (Tricia); 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother James Ray McCandless; sister Kathy Owens (Gary); and a host of extended family and friends. Sandra is preceded is death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Farol Baldus, who passed away in 2014, daughter Shonna Baldus Burrus, sister Sylvia Suitor and her parents. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Oakland United Methodist Church.
