Lanita Baldwin

LaNita Fern Baldwin, 91, Blue Springs, MO passed into a new life on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Rosewood Health Center in Independence, MO. Services will be at 11 am, Thursday, April 29 in the Community Room at The Groves; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Outreach International or the Community Service League of Independence.
Fern was born on Oct. 9, 1918 in Puryear, TN to Elvin M. and Vala B. (Ross) Seaton. She attended high school in Paris, TN and business school in Kansas City, MO.
On June 4, 1943 she married Joseph Earl Baldwin at the Stone Church in Independence, MO. She and Joe spent forty-three years in the mission field serving the Community of Christ Church. They lived and worked in Chicago, IL; Ontario, Canada; Mobile, AL; Kansas City, Independence and Blue Springs, MO. They lived for many years on R. D. Mize Road in Independence.
Fern spent several years working for the Independence School System in the student lunch program both at Spring Branch Elementary and Blackburn Elementary schools.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, sister Juanita Schoff and brother Stanley Seaton. Her memory is cherished by her loving husband Joe; three children: Charles Baldwin and wife Sally, Blue Springs, MO; Kenneth Baldwin and wife Cheryl, Palmetto, FL; LaNita (Baldwin) Abramson and husband David, Blue Springs, MO; eight grandchildren: David Baldwin, Amy Davenport, Adam Abramson, Lindsey Abramson-Borns, Whitney Abramson, Bradley Baldwin, Joseph Baldwin and Wesley Baldwin; eight great-grandchildren; sister Lawedna Peterson, Independence, MO and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a loved and loving mother and wife and will be missed by all.
Fern’s family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood, The Groves and Hospice for their care and support during her stay there.
