Scottie Eugene Banks, 73 of Blue Springs, MO passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at his residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Saturday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to Harvester’s Food Pantry. Scottie was born August 30, 1937 in Dillingham, NC to John Robert and Leona (Webb) Banks. He graduated from Central High School in 1955. Scottie worked for Schowengerdt Plastering from 1955 and eventually bought the company in 1968 and served as president until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed fixing things and was a handyman to anyone that needed help. He was a member and past president of the Kansas City Builders Association. He belonged to the RLDS Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy of the home; 2 daughters, Lynn Andrews and husband Greg of Blue Springs, MO and Ann Lewis and husband Jon of Lee’s Summit, MO; 2 brothers, Ed Banks and wife Jo of Shell Knob, MO and Mike Banks and wife Margo of Odessa, MO; 3 grandchildren, Haylee Lewis, Jillian Lewis and Connor Andrews; a special cousin Louise Dodd of Asheville, NC and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Francis M. Banks, Robert Wiley Banks and Lawrence Eldridge Banks and 2 sisters, Ruby Miller and Mildred Eubank.
