Charlotte Barnes

Charlotte Lora (Jacobs) Barnes, 93 of Independence, MO passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made to the First Assembly of God Church 3711 S. Whitney Ave. in Independence, MO 64054. Charlotte was born March 22, 1915 in Lyons, KS and moved to Independence, MO and became a longtime are resident. Charlotte worked as a nurse for Independence Regional Health Center for over 25 years until her retirement. She and her husband contributed to the building of the First Assembly of God Church and served as Sunday school there for many years. She was cherished by her family and considered their rock and spent her life serving and supporting them in every way possible. Charlotte was not only a mother and grandmother, but her family described her as their best friend. Charlotte was married to George Jay Barnes in 1939; he preceded her in death in 1976. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Barrier and husband Otis of Independence, MO; 2 brothers, Floyd Jacobs and Richard Sybert; a sister, Alberta Gillespie; grandchildren, Linda Barrier, Betty Anderson, Edward J. and Nikki Barrier, Gary and Maggie Barrier, Ronnie and Lori Barrier, Dixie and Kenny Jordan, Marie and Dean Parr, Leon Barnes; great grandchildren, Rhonda Collins, Christy Epperson, Edward J. Barrier, Jr., Krystal Barrier, Nicole Barrier, Amanda Barrier, Amy Brandenburg, Tera Brandenburg, Wes Brandeburg, Jessica, Jill Thilges, Malcolm Thilges, Rachelle Smith, Stephanie Biggs, Charles Curtis (Chucky) Shelly Garland, Robin Wisneski, JD Parr, Tammy Vansullen; great great grandchildren; Casey, Felisha, Ashley, Edward J.
