Lois I. Barnes, 83, Independence, MO passed away Nov. 29, 2015. Services will be 10 am, Thursday, Dec. 3 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052 followed by graveside services at 2 pm at Norris Cemetery, Hartwell, MO. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wed. at the chapel. Lois was born Oct. 2, 1932 in Kansas City, MO and grew up in the Urich-Hartwell, MO area. She earned her teaching certificate from Central Missouri Teacher’s College and married Robert Barnes in 1951. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She was a member of Norfleet Baptist Church, the Jackson County Genealogical Society and the Bible Study Fellowship. She was preceded in death by husband Bob Barnes and daughter Cindy Rust See. She is survived by son Dan Barnes and wife Donna, Camdenton, MO; daughters Angela Crawford and husband Harry; Kay Workman, all of Independence, MO; brother Alvin Flippin and wife Dorothy, Harrisonville, MO; sister Kathryn Steenrod, Lockwood, MO; grandchildren Amanda Daniel, Ryan Rust and wife Britt, Mike Rust, Luke See and wife Tanna, David Workman and wife Katie, Dustin Workman, Danielle Workman; great-grandchildren Maddy, Danika, Abby, Cole, Addison and Gray.
