Marie Bayless

Marie Santa Bayless, 84, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at St. John Lalande Catholic Church. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel with the rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Marie was born August 7, 1924 in Kansas City, MO to Santo and Rose (Fanara) Glorioso. She graduated from Manual High School before attending and graduating from Aladdin Beauty College. Marie was united in marriage in 1944 to James W. Bayless, Jr., a Navy Gunners Mate Sailor serving in WWII. She started working in cosmetology at the Jones Store downtown Kansas City before co-owning and operating The Magic Touch Salon. Mrs. Bayless enjoyed family gatherings celebrating her Italian heritage, making her famous lasagna and Italian cookies for everyone! Marie had a zest for life, a ready smile and a positive attitude. She loved her family dearly. Mrs. Bayless is survived by her son James W. Bayless III and his wife Janis; daughter Rosemarie and her husband Jerry Nicas Sr. (Nikas); grandchildren John and Jim Bayless, Jennifer Nelson, Jerry Nicas, Jr. Nicholas Angelo Nicas; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, James Bayless, Jr. in ’91; and brother John Glorioso. She will be greatly missed and forever loved!
