Lillian May Bayne, 89, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Lillian was born July 26, 1918 in Rosedale British Columbia, Canada to Thomas H. and Janie (Smith) Muirhead. She attended grade school and high school in Canada. In 1940 she enrolled in Graceland College in Lamoni, IA graduating with an AA degree in Education. She then enrolled in Warrensburg State College while teaching in the country. In 1950, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. Lillian taught school for twelve years. She was baptized on August 12, 1928 into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Lillian has been active in the church all her life. On October 8, 1948 she married Harold C. Bayne. Mrs. Bayne became an American Citizen on June 6, 1949. The Baynes returned to Independence, MO after 1982. Lillian is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold Bayne; sons Kevin H. Bayne and wife Faith, Raymond K. Bayne and wife June; three grandchildren; two sisters Vivian Provost and Velma Cain. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
