Doras V. Becker was born to Eugene Ardivan and Asenith Emiline Gamet on November 13,

1919 in Pisgah, Iowa She graduted from Pisgah High School in 1935 with a class of 9. She

attended Graceland College and Iowa State Teachers College where she graduated with a certificate

in Music and English. She met her future husband, Willard C. Becker, while attendingGraceland

Club that performed live on radio in Des Moines, Iowa. She also performed on the radio both

singing and playing the organ in the 1940's and 50's.

With Willard's work under church appointment, they eventually settled in Warrensburg, Missouri

where she was President of the Council of Church Women, Chairman of the March of Dimes drive,

and Women's Leader for the Warrensburg congregation. In 1954 the couple was blessed with

arrival of their only child, Sharon Kay. In 1963 the family moved to Independence, MO, where

Willard was assigned to the newly developed stake Blue Valley. While in Independence, Doras

Independence Music Club for 6 years. She was also involved in Girl's work as a Skylark and

Oriole leader and a badge councelor. Their home congregation was Village Heights RLDS

where Doras accompanied the church choir for several years.

When retirement came along, Doras enjoyed spending time with her family, Sharon, Sharon's

husband, Richard Bruns, and her grandchildren Lindsay and Eric Bruns. To her greatest pleasure,

both of Doras's grandchildren became involved in music; Lindsay in band and orchestra, and Eric

in choir and vocal solo work. She and Willard spent a lot of time traveling to visit relatives all over

the USA, and doing volunteer church work.
