Lena Beckman

Lena M. Beckman, 99, formerly of Independence, MO, passed away March 4, 2011 at St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs, MO. Services will be at 10 am, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to VFW Post #1000, 1002 E. 24 Hwy, Independence, MO 64050 or American Legion Post #21, 16701 E. 40 Hwy, Independence, MO 64055.
Lena was born April 6, 1911 in Louisville, KY. She graduated from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in 1932. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliaries at VFW Post #1000 and American Legion Post #21 where she was a Past President of the Auxiliary. Lena lived in Independence, MO most of her life before moving to St. Mary’s Manor in 2008.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy R. Beckman in 1998. She is survived by her nephew Donald Downs and wife Joyce, Grain Valley, MO.
