Kurt H. Bellack, 88, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2022, at Carmel Hills Nursing Home, Independence, MO.

Kurt Herman Bellack was born on March 5, 1934, in New York City, NY, to Kurt and Charlotte (Krause) Bellack. Two weeks after coming into the world his family moved to Berlin, Germany, where he grew up and received his education. When Kurt turned 18 in 1952, he chose to maintain his US citizenship and moved back to the US. On January 12, 1955, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his 20-year career Kurt was stationed in Washington, Spain, Texas, Vietnam, Germany, and Nebraska and earned the rank of Master Sergeant. Kurt was honorably discharged on January 31, 1975. It was during his time in the service that he met and married the love of his life, Maria Bravo. The two were married on August 2, 1960.
Following his discharge Kurt and Maria moved to Independence, MO, where he began his career with the FAA, where he was an inspector until retiring in 1995.

During his retirement Kurt was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross and the VA Hospitals in the area.
Kurt will be remembered for being a sailor, he had many different sailboats in his life; enjoying watching any soccer, walking four miles a day until his health would not allow him, enjoying ribs and steaks, and enjoying their winter condo in Destin, FL.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his beloved wife of 60 years, Maria; daughter, Debra M. (Pete R.) Trojan, a sister, Tanta Ingrid of Germany; sister-in-law, Nati and husband, Victor of Spain; and special family, Tomia (Cassey) Smith and their children, Gavin and Conner.
Kurt is preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Kurt Bellack on October 3, 1993; and grandson, Bradley Kurt Corkins on October 17, 2017.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO, 64055, 816-373-3600. A memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
