Nadine Ruth Benedict, 77 of Independence passed away Mon. Feb. 25, 2008 at her home. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Fri. Feb 29, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Indep. MO. Burial in Md. Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 �" 7:30 pm Thursday at the chapel. Mrs. Benedict was born on Mar. 11, 1930 to Jesse and Mary (Wilson) Sample in St. Joseph, MO. She had been in the food service department with TWA for 30 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time at the lake, playing bingo, fishing and crocheting. She had attended St. Marks Catholic Church and was a member of the VFW post 1000 auxiliary. Nadine was preceded in death by her husband Norval Benedict in 1988. She is survived by two sons, Bill Alley, Jr. of Independence and Roxie “Rocky” Alley and wife, Theresa of Oak Grove, MO. Two daughters, Laura Longenecker and husband Rick of Independence and Ramona Smith and husband Dale of Kansas City, MO. One brother, Raymond Sample and wife Greta of Independence. Eight grandchildren, Christy Lester, Lisa Dye, Sarah Alley, Michael Barmore, Amy Barnes, Jesse Longenecker, Billy Alley and Richie Alley and six great grandchildren.
