Edward Harold Benn

Edward Benn, 99, of Independence, MO., passed away Wednesday August 25, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.

Edward was born on May 25, 1922 to WC Benn and Willie Maud Bruton in Springfield, MO. He was a veteran of WWII and in 1948 attained his bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. Edward was a master gardener and did a lot of volunteer work. He was an avid reader and his author being Agatha Christie.

Edward is survived by his sons, Stephen (Patricia) Benn, Phillip (Pam) Benn; 6 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, WC and Willie Bruton; brothers, John and Warren Benn; beloved wife of 70 years, Catherine “Nadine” (Otis) Benn, and his dear son, David Benn in 1975.
