Charlene Louise Bergman, 55, of Independence, MO passed away on Friday, December 12, 2008 after a courageous fight against cancer. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Speaks. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Charlene Bergman Scholarship Fund in c/o Commerce bank. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Charlene was born in Independence, MO to Calvin Charles “Chuck” and Grace Louise (Smeaton) Wanbaugh. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School in 1971 and had recently retired from the City of Independence after nearly 30 years. Charlene loved her family dearly and they were the light of her life. Her strong will and determination in life was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Charlene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dr. Jason and Kimberly Bergman; daughter Emily Bergman and fiance’ Nathan Ditty; grandson Maxwell Bergman, granddaughter Hayden Ditty; sister and brother-in-law Marla and Michael Parks; and by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
