Zola Bergschneider

Zola T. (Barksdale) Bergschneider, 95 of Independence, Mo passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at RCI Nursing Center in Independence, MO.
She had lived at the Fountains since 2003. A former resident of Levasy, MO and Harlingen, TX she was born July 31, 1916 in Independence, MO to Jacob and Sue Barksdale. Her parents, one sister and three brothers preceded her in death. She married Oliver H. Bergschneider in October 1938. They made their home on the family homestead in Levasy for 56 years until 1994 when they retired permanently to Harlingen, TX. Oliver passed away in Harlingen, TX in July of 2003, four months short of their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary. She is also pre-deceased by her son, Oliver R. “Ron” Bergschneider in January of 2006.
Her daughter, Karen and husband Lonnie Allen Crow of Sun City West, AZ survive her. Her three grandchildren are Scott Flucke and wife Dawn of Wichita, KS, Robin Sales and husband Sean of Oak Grove, MO and Chris and Cody Bergschneider of Independence, MO. Six great grandchildren also survive; Brooke and Brenna Flucke, Sean Michael and Ryan Sales, Gage and Lane Bergschneider. Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Donna Bergschneider and nine nieces and nephews. Zola will be missed by a host of friends and neighbors from the Fountains and her church. A special thank you to the Vitas Hospice who cared for Zola these past eleven months.
Cremation requested. A joint memorial service for both Zola and Oliver will be held at Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Levasy on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by the services at 11:00 a.m. Interment of their ashes will immediately follow at the Ebenezer UCC Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to either Ebenezer UCC Scholarship Fund 206 W. Old Lexington Rd., Levasy, MO 64066 or to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund at www.vitascharityfund.org
