Bertha Irene Jett, a beloved matriarch, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by love. Born on September 19, 1943, in Stover, Missouri, Bertha lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family.
Bertha dedicated much of her life to her work as a housekeeper for The Groves. Her strong work ethic was matched only by her loving spirit, which endeared her to many in her community. Bertha had an infectious love of life; barbecues with family and friends were a highlight, bringing laughter and joy to all who gathered around her table. She found delight in watching old westerns, a pastime that she cherished and shared with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will forever be held dear.
Bertha's greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her loving children, Tracy Green and Paul Jett, sisters, Rachael Wood, and Sandy Dorrel. The family tree extends further with her grandchildren, Austin Jett and wife Miranda, Ashley Smith and husband Adam, Ryan Miller and wife Jodie, and Kevin Miller. The joy of her life came in the form of her great-grandchildren—Grayson Jett, Maverick Jett, Madilynn Jett, Hailey Hanson, Hayden Barber, Destiny Rose, Trace Rose, and Mackenzie Miller and RJ Miller. The legacy of love continues with her great-great-grandchildren, Addie Quigley and Emma Quigley, who brought her immeasurable happiness.
Bertha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Jett, and her parents, Lloyd Wood Sr. and Nellie Wood. She also mourned the loss of five siblings, holding their memories close to her heart throughout her life.
Those fortunate enough to have known Bertha will forever remember her as a vibrant spirit who uplifted those around her. Her laughter echoed in every family gathering, and her love was a bond that united her family through both joyous and challenging times. Bertha Irene Jett leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and the cherished memories of countless barbecues and western movie marathons. Her spirit will always be a part of the lives she touched so deeply.
