Lawrence C. Beshoner, 94, Kansas City, MO passed away July 21, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am, Sat., July 24, 2010 at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church, 9020 E. 51st Terr., K.C, MO 64133; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Lawrence was born Oct. 3, 1915 in Paris, AR and graduated from Paris High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He served on the USS Mississippi which was one of the first ships to sail into Tokyo Bay when the surrender of Japan was to be signed. He worked for Safeway Stores in various positions for forty-two years and retired in 1979. He was a member of St. Bernadette’s Parish for the last twelve years. He was a member of the American Legion. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Frances, lived at the Lake of the Ozarks and loved life there. He loved fishing, vegetable gardening, yard work and Royals baseball.
Lawrence was preceded in death by son Ricky Beshoner; sisters Stella Layes, Sister Carmen Beshoner; brothers Jerome Beshoner and Joe Beshoner. He is survived by his wife Frances Beshoner, of the home; sons Lawrence J. Beshoner and wife Jan, Englewood, FL; Jerry Beshoner and wife Alice, Pleasant Hill, MO; sisters Henrietta Riley, Sugar Creek, MO; Barbara Bordenet; Rita Lorenzo and husband Charles, all of Paris, AR; grandchildren Joe Beshoner, Kansas City, MO; Jill Svoboda and husband Brian, Wesley Chapel, FL; Fr. Seraphim Beshoner, Stubenville, OH; Benjamin Beshoner and wife Stephanie, Kansas City, MO; great-grandchildren Jaeden, Cori, Maddie, Cole, Luke, Sophia, and Natalie.
