Betty Jean Fasse, a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at the age of 95 on August 1, 2026. Betty was born on December 22, 1930, to Myrtle and Irving Carpenter of Wakefield, KS. She lived on a farm with her parents and 3 brothers: Jim, Dennis and Gary Carpenter. She attended primary school at Madura which was a one-room building about 2 miles from the farm. After graduation from Wakefield High School in 1948, where she was homecoming queen; she went to business school in Topeka, KS before moving to Kansas City, MO. She lived with her Aunt Eun and worked at Sears as a bookkeeper in the Auditing Department.
She married Gail Fasse also from Wakefield, KS on February 1, 1953. Their remarkable 73 years together truly showed their deep love for one another. They raised 2 children, Linda and Greg Fasse. They left Kansas City/lndependence, MO and moved briefly to Colorado Springs, CO and then to Junction City, KS before returning to Independence, MO where they lived for 44 years before moving to Blue Springs, MO. Betty returned to work at Sears in 1969 to again work in the Auditing Department until 1986 when Sear's started laying off individuals and offered her an early retirement. In 1986 she went to work for United Missouri Bank and worked there until 1994.
Betty and Gail enjoyed traveling with their camper and RV's. They also enjoyed a trip to Hawaii in the 1970's and a cruise. They were able to go to 48 states throughout their travels. They had a trailer/cabin in what they called Deer Run near Lincoln, MO for several years too where they enjoyed spending weekends.
Betty and Gail Fasse were married in the Wakefield United Methodist Church and are founding members of Christ United Methodist Church of Independence.
Betty is survived by her husband, Gail Fasse. Her children and their spouses: Linda and Mike Meyers, and Greg and Jayne Fasse. Her 5 grandchildren and their spouses: Brent and Heather Fasse; Clint and Rachel Fasse; Elizabeth and Cooper Walker; Dianna and Tyler Phifer; Timothy and Elizabeth Meyers. Betty has 8 great grandchildren: Jett Fasse and Brynlee Fasse; Daisy and Lily Fasse; Stella and Bristol Walker and Charlie and Remy Meyers. Betty is survived also by her brother Dennis and wife Betty Carpenter of Olathe, KS and brother Gary and wife Judy Carpenter of Wakefield, KS. Betty will be deeply missed by her many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Myrtle and Irving Carpenter and brother Jim and wife Ivy Jane Carpenter as well as her in-laws Ethel & Paul Zerbe, Richard & Ruth Heikes & Dean & Jean Fasse.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Wakefield Museum or Luminos Hospice.
