Betty Jean Fiedler

 

Betty Jean Fiedler, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024. She was 96 years of age.

 

Betty was born on October 24, 1927, in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of George and Marie (Satterfield) Wright. She graduated from Manuel High School and was in The Class of 1945. Betty was a Statistician for Sears and Roebuck for 47 years before retiring and remaining close to her past co-workers to this day.  She later came out of retirement to work for the Independence School District for several more years.

 

Betty loved gardening and landscaping, she had such a touch, making her backyard look like a tropical destination, a skill she learned from her mother and passed on to her children and grandchildren. She loved traveling to national parks and Washington, DC. She enjoyed being in the outdoors, reading, listening to music, some of her favorites being Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, and Tommy Dorsey. Betty was resilient, strong willed and a hard worker, a best friend and genuine person. She was the best mother and grandmother anyone could ask for and she will be deeply missed.

 

Betty is survived by her son, Steven Fiedler; grandchildren, Chris Fiedler and Christine Fiedler; great grandchild Miles Miller; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband George Fiedler; son, Michael Fiedler; parents, George and Marie Wright; siblings, Doris and Jeanette.

 

A visitation will take place at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052 on Friday, February 9, 2024; family will greet guest between the hours of 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Betty will be laid to rest with a Graveside Service on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10:00 in Woodlawn Cemetery ~ St. Mary’s section ~ in Independence, MO.
