George A. Biber, 81, Independence, MO passed away Aug. 1, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Friday, Aug. 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 600 N. Liberty St, Independence, MO 64050; interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Rosary will begin at 6 pm, Thursday at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64052 followed by visitation from 6:30-8 pm. The family suggests contributions to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
George was born March 5, 1930 in Creve Coeur, MO and graduated from East High School in Kansas City. He was a manager in the grocery business and once owned the U.S. Super in Lawson, MO. He retired from A Reich Produce Company in 1992. He was a member of the church for over fifty years and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He also was a Eucharistic minister and usher at St. Mary‘s. He loved spending time with his family, woodworking, fishing and growing his own produce in his garden at home.
George was preceded in death by infant son Joseph Allen Biber and sister Dorothy Biber. He is survived by his wife of nearly sixty-two years Theresa Biber of the home; daughters Pam Gooch and husband Gary, Kansas City North, MO; Cindy Jenkins and husband Dave, Gladstone, MO; Mary Cleveland, Palm Springs, CA; Connie Scassellati and husband Joe, Liberty, MO, fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
