John Bills

John C. Bills, 86, Kansas City, MO passed away May 13, 2013. Services will be 10 am, Sat. May 18 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, 6820 E Truman Rd., Kansas City, MO 64126. John was born April 7, 1927 in Keytesville, MO. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He worked at Armco Steel Co. for thirty years and retired in 1977. He also owned Norjon Realty Co. with his wife from 1973 until 2012, in addition to being an auctioneer. He served on the Board of the Whatsoever Community Center, was a Past President of the Landlords Inc., Past President of the Missouri Apartment Assoc., a fifty-year member of the Sheffield Masonic Lodge, the Ararat Shrine and United Steelworkers. He was a member of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He loved to hunt and fish but most of all loved his family. John was preceded in death by his wife Norma Jean Bills in 2011 and three sisters. He is survived by daughters Judith Jones and husband Denzil, Excelsior Springs, MO; Bonnie Dodge and husband Billy, Lawson, MO; son John Bills and wife Gigi, Kansas City, MO; sisters Nina Duffey, Grandview MO; Oneita Edwards, Independence, MO; sisters-in-law Dorothy Carter, Kansas City North, MO; Charlotte Rigney and husband Bill, Albany, MO; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
