Virginia May Binnie, 89 of Joplin, MO, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m., until service time Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. Virginia was born on October 12, 1919 in Kansas City, Missouri to James T. and Laura Elizabeth Binnie, and passed from this life on May 3, 2009. Virginia was a resident of Kansas City until a year ago when she relocated to Joplin, Missouri. She worked for the K C Power & Light Company for over 38 years before retiring. She was well known and loved by those with whom she worked in the Relay Department and throughout the company. Virginia was a member of the Community of Christ. She enjoyed her neighborhood on the northeast side of town, activities at the Don Bosco Center, was a proud American, a regular at the Salvation Army Bible Study and was always ready to help others. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, George Binnie, a sister, Margaret Burgess and brother-in-law Larry. She leaves her niece, Larrene Burgess Hagaman, husband, Darrell of Joplin, Missouri and great niece, Dara Hoffman, St. Louis, Missouri. Several others considered her their “Aunt” as well. She also leaves a host of friends who join her family in remembering her with love.
