July 6, 1917 — September 15, 2008

Winifred “Winnie” Black, 91, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Monday, September 15, 2008 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Stone Church. Winnie was born July 6, 1917 in Alexander, KS to Walter and Blanche (Thompson) Bundy. She was a life-long member of the Stone Church and a 59 year member of the Laurel Club. Mrs. Black loved her family dearly and her world revolved around them. She is survived by her daughter Paula Brasel and husband Ted, son James LeBow; step daughter Diane Shirota and husband Paul, step-sons Phillip Black, Kenneth Black and wife Carolyn; grandson Jean Paul Pelletier and wife Sandy; step-grandchildren David and Paul Shirota, Wendy and Kaycee Black, and Leslie Black; great-grandson Trent Pelletier; sister Fern Albanese. Winnie was preceded in death by her first husband Paul LeBow in ’68 and second husband Urban Black in ’01, and two sisters and one brother.
