Roland R. Blaine, Sr. CHARLESTON, SC - Roland passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012 after a short illness. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who would do anything for anyone. He was born on October 10, 1938 in Independence, MO to Carl and Genevieve Blaine.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Sharon, of Charleston; son Roland R. Blaine Jr. and wife Michelle, and three grandsons, Roland III, Devin, and AJ Blaine all of Excelsior Springs, MO. He also had a son, Gary Blaine that died in infancy.
While in the Army, he served his country doing a tour of France. Roland was a member of Pipefitters Local #533 for 35 years in KC, MO, and highly respected in his field of expertise. Roland survived many health obstacles during his lifetime and was the recipient of two kidney transplants. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2012 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
