Arthur G. Bly, 84 of Cameron, MO formerly of Independence passed a way Thu. Feb. 14, 2008. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Thu. Feb. 21, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Indep, MO. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery immediately following the service. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Bly was born on Dec 5, 1923 to Everett and Dorothy (Hendrix) Bly in Kansas City, MO and had lived in Independence most of his life. He had been a groundskeeper at Drumm Farm from 1989 until 2004. He had previously retired from the General Services Administration as a Warehouse Controller. Mr. Bly was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed camping, puzzles and playing practical jokes. He was a member of Christ United Methodist, the Disabled American Veterans, Masonic Lodge # 76, York Rite Bodies and Ararat Shrine. He was Past Commander of the Palestine Commandery #17 and the Council #49 Cryptic Masons. He was a proud Army Veteran of WWII and received numerous awards including three Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, Silver Star and four Oakleaf Clusters. Arthur was preceded in death by his first wife Jean in 1996. He is survived by his wife Virginia Bly of Overland Park; two sons, Gerald Bly and wife Elaine of Hovland, MN and Jay Bly and wife Kay of Millerville, MD. A daughter, Sharon Evans and husband Larry of Cameron, MO. Ten grandchildren, Matthew, Shelly, Scott, Chad, Lindsay, David, Samuel, Sarah, Brian and Mike. Five great grandchildren, Josh, Ashlie, Brea, Josiah and Bryan.
