Doris Jean Bodenstab, 68, of Independence, MO, passed away, Saturday, July 4, 2009 at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Independence, MO followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Concordia, MO. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Donations may be made to the Messiah Lutheran School or to the Kansas City Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Doris was born July 11, 1940 in Higginsville, MO to Florance Edward and Martha Marie Louise (Linke) Bufka and graduated from Marshall High School. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, bowling, traveling, shopping and cooking. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She was married to David Bodenstab on June 27, 1959; he passed away on January 15, 2004. Survivors include; 2 sons, Michael Bodenstab and his wife, Kim of Lee’s Summit, MO and Tom Bodenstab and his wife, Dena of Blue Springs, MO; a daughter, Deborah Hansen and her husband, Paul of Blue Springs, MO; a sister, Darlene Robinson and her husband, Bob of Marshall, MO; and 5 grandchildren, Lauren, Devon, Whitney, Ashton and Erin. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Derryn Bodenstab and a nephew Shawn Summers.
