Thomas H. “Tom” Boone, 92, Kansas City, MO died Oct. 1, 2010. Services will be at 10 am, Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO; interment with Military Honors at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to Bales Baptist Church, 3414 E. 12th St., K.C., MO 64127.
Tom was born July 12, 1918 in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Northeast High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in WW II. After returning from the war, Tom began a career as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, which lasted over thirty years. He was a longtime member of the Bales Baptist Church and played the pipe organ there for many years. He loved to travel and circled the globe three times during his trips. He also was an art collector and gathered pieces from all over the world.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brother Elmer Boone. He is survived by cousin Ellen Jane Petrie, Independence, MO; great-niece Barbara Todd and husband Robert, Kansas City, MO and great-nephew Kenneth Hall, Independence, MO.
